This flow cup, also called a viscosity meter, with an opening of 4mm is a must-have for any ceramicist wanting to pour and/or dip glazes. The viscosity of glazes is a very important variable for good, consistent results.
Dip the cup into a well-mixed glaze and measure how long it takes for the glaze to completely run out of the cup. This flow time provides a value for the glaze's viscosity. Glaze too thin? Add a deflocculant such as Dolapix PC67. Glaze too thick? Then add a flocculant such as Epsom salt.
The flow time is listed on the label of each SOGO glaze.
