Epsom salts

Epsom salt is a flocculant. It makes glazes creamier and thickens them. This keeps them in suspension much better and makes them easier to apply.

Most SOGO glazes must be regularly flocculated with a saturated Epsom salt solution. Add 175g of hot water to 250g of Epsom salt. Some crystals will remain at the bottom. Use only the liquid, not the crystals.

Epsom salt can also be used to thicken casting slip. It also works excellently to thicken a clay slurry you can use to attach handles to pots.
