Who is this workshop for?
Anyone who wants an introduction to pouring and dipping techniques is welcome.
What is included?
Brief presentation for which you will receive the slides digitally after the workshop.
The use of glazes and firing of three pieces of functional ware (cup, bowl, saucer, or plate) is included in the price. Large pieces (such as vases > 20 cm, bowls > 22 cm, and sinks) will not be glazed during this lesson.
Shipping ceramics after firing is possible. Shipping costs will be charged.
What to bring?
- apron
- cloth and a towel
- three bisque fired pieces of tableware in stoneware clay (please bring a picture of the label)

In this workshop, I demonstrate practical glazing techniques using SOGO glazes at the SOGO glaze factory in Deurne.
The following topics will be covered:
- An introduction to safe working with dipping and pouring glazes
- The importance of a well-stirred suspension
- something about temperature and heat work
- recognizing the consistency of a good glaze
- points to consider for different studio glazes
- demonstration glazing of different student pieces
- various methods for pouring and dipping (by hand, tongs, wax, suction cup)
- answer all your glaze questions
You get the chance to glaze 3 pieces yourself under supervision and have them fired.
