Brushing

Brushing

Before you start, make sure your glaze has been properly prepared with a brushing agent and that your bisque fired pottery is clean and free from dust and grease. Choose a soft brush that matches the size of your piece. Stir the glaze thoroughly until it is completely smooth and evenly mixed. Once the glaze is ready, you can start applying it with the brush.

Apply the first coat evenly over the entire surface. Allow it to dry completely, which usually takes a few minutes. Next, apply a second coat, brushing in the opposite direction of the first coat. This helps to achieve even coverage. Let the second coat dry thoroughly as well. Finally, apply a third coat evenly across the surface. After three coats, the glaze should provide good coverage, and your piece is ready to dry completely before firing.

Be sure to test both two and four coats. You may find that you prefer the colour with more or fewer layers of glaze.
