Self-supporting Orton cones

These self-supporting Orton cones are an important tool for understanding the heatwork of your kiln. SOGO glazes fire ideally at cone 7. Always place multiple, consecutive cone numbers in the kiln on all different kiln shelves to accurately assess the heatwork your kiln produces. The bending of the cone determines how much heatwork occurred during the firing. Ideally, cone 7 should be nicely bent without the tip touching the kiln shelf.
