Tungsten carbide is the second hardest material in the world. It is almost as hard as diamond. Turning tools made from this material hardly wear down. Tungsten carbide is not a metal but a compound of tungsten and carbon. It is very sharp, which makes turning smooth and truly a pleasure.

The trimming loop is mounted in an oiled ash wood handle with a quality brass connection. The brass runs far into the wooden handle, making the turning loop very well-balanced in the hand. The tools are made in Belgium in collaboration with a customized workshop company.

Use tungsten carbide

Note: Tungsten carbide is extremely hard, but also brittle. Do not drop the tools or knock them against hard surfaces, as they may break. Always place your tool in a safe spot where it cannot accidentally fall off the wheel. If handled with care, a tool like this can last a lifetime.

Tungsten carbide turning tools are so sharp that you might need some time to get used to them when turning, especially if you don't have much turning experience yet.

More information on how to use trimming tools can be found on the Tools page.

Tungsten Carbide Maintenance

Tungsten carbide turning tools are very sharp and do not go blunt quickly. You can easily sharpen the tools with a diamond file if needed after a few years.
